This sign tells you what you can do and what is possible to see in downtown area.

I thought that this picture was funny that was sitting on a table. Of what I remember it says "Venti's Customers only sit at this table with alcohol beverage". What caught my eye about this picture was the rooster on the picture.

I am anti-tanning beds. My grandmother has been tanning since she was a teenager. I have also seen people tan and what their before and after skin looks like. My opinion is that tanning beds will soon give you skin cancer and aging. I prefer to sun bath and get vitamin D from the sun.

The good part about downtown Salem is that it is Salem enough to find all your friends and family. The bad thing about downtown Salem is that there is a lot of weirdo's and homeless people. I'm always downtown because my school is down here and the city buses is my transportation.

Where do I get news from?

I get a lot of news from: television, paper, parents, friends, and teachers. I think that where you get interesting news from you have a choice to believe it or not, but if someone tells me that this happened today I would have to look it up or spread the news more to other people and what they have to say or have heard. Everyday I take the city bus for my transportation I hear a lot of interesting facts and myths to what is going on in this BIG world. Majority of people hear people talking about that something in there conversations and have something to say about that something because they want to add onto what they heard from somewhere else.

Is it good to learn from a diary about World War II?

It is only one person writing and talking about what happens each day out of Anne's life with her family in hiding. I disagree that a diary is not mainly focused on World War II. Why? Because she is talking about the characters that are in hiding with her and why her family is in hiding. The reason they're hiding: she is a Jew plus her family and the people that she is living with. Yes, there might be little pieces to what is going on in the outside world, but not in really good details to visualize what is happening because Anne's family is in an attic/business place so that they don't see what is happening in the outside world.

Clarify

I have learned about a lot of interesting things from before we started this book and now i'm learning interesting things about Anne Frank. Hitler was cruel, but that is how he ruled the Holocaust time. I want to know more and more and more how they survived in hiding. This book is eye catching. When I went to South Salem High School I was in History class and learned some things about World War II (didn't really pay attention).

School !!

This is my Last year attending here and DTLC. My number one main priority is to get school finish and head to college. My dream career that I can become is.... Either a dentist or a veterinarian. I'm going to start out at Chemeketa do some general courses and then probably get transferred to a university. Right now math is my number one struggle and I need to focus on that. I have been in read 180 for quite awhile since seventh grade. None of the other read 180 classes has helped me one bit. Now since I am a senior and in read 180 it has increased in: my reading level, writing, and understanding what I am reading (comprehension). I love what you do Rebekah and how you help out students in your individual time (smiley). I think when I graduate this year in 2010 when I walk to get my certificate I am going to write a speech (I hope you can be there to hear what I have to say).

School isn't that boring and lame I just have to be occupied through out the time I am here for four hours. I always look back and wished that I could of done better in a regular high school and not focus on socializing and meeting people. I'm pretty sure that majority of people struggle with the same problems that I have going on.

Character: Anne's Mother

Anne's mother doesn't seem to be the mother figure. Anne figures out certain things on her own instead of going to her mom and asking for advice. That's similiar to my life that I'm old enough that I don't need advice from my parents. Anne's mother doesn't act like a mother towards Anne. She wishes that her mom could step up and be the mother that she could. She has her own dirty comments but Anne writes her feelings in her diary (aka Kitty) about her mom.

Genocide

Some people are cruel and go by what people tell them to do. Or another reason they might kill people is because they have something against that person, but that isn't the way to solve it. Maybe in some other person's book is to kill and never let that person live to see the next day. I think it is wrong to kill someone that is innocent. Life is hard in reality and some people go through seeing people die right in front of them. Why can't you just be yourself and not have to know that someone is out there to kill you because of your race, what religion you believe in, or how you live your life?

Evaluate

When you first told the class that we were going to start reading Anne Frank I got excited. The first thing I liked about this book was chapter one was great, but I think it is going to take time to get to the good stuff in the middle of the book (where her family gets caught). My dislikes are that the book is taking forever. It starts out meeting the characters, and how she lives her life with these certain people.

Majority of people these days people do complain about a lot of certain things: the economy, trying to survive with little money they do have, and how to grow up. These days some children's parents aren't great examples for role modles. I understand somewhat she is going through. I have never been through that, but my friends parents and their own children go through a lot and I have been there to witness it. I am really thankful that my family doesn't do drugs and go through a lot of stress.

People are always going to let you down no matter what their actions are. There are great people out in any state and country. But there are evil people that are selfish. Despite all the bad things Anne hears about everyday she is right there are bad people and great people. Every human bean has a heart, and some people wear their heart on there sleeve and are sweethearts.

Few things that people do to irritate me

I have a few certain things that people do to push my buttons that irritate me: talking behind my back, budding into my conversations, and trying to fight or start an argument when there is no reason to be fighting or yelling. I don't like any of these things that people do. They annoy the heck out of me to the point that I don't want to be waisting my time. To solve a bad situation around me I would walk away and not say a word to the person that is saying or doing negative things that I don't appreciate being disrespected.

If I was in hiding what would I miss the most?

I love the outdoors, I would miss that the most. It would be devastating to live in the life of Holocaust. At least I would have my family right next to me at all times. I love family, the outdoors, and mother nature.

Why did people help out Annes family?

I wasn't here yesterday, but what I can remember is there are a lot of people out there to help others out with what issues they have. I don't know to much about how people helped her family, but when people are in danger of need help ther're plenty of people that need an extra hand.
